Paranoia

For all of you who read my blog, I'm sorry that I haven't been posting. Between the warnings from my dad and the stuff that I have been hearing on the news, I've been hesitant to blog anything personal. I know that it's probably silly paranoia, but you just never know. My new solution is that I'm going to take up e-mailing again. So, I will try to keep in regular contact that way.

What a beautiful spring Michigan day. It's days like these when I really love living in Michigan. Not too hot or cold, no freezing breeze, and a wonderful calm day over the lake. Kelly is even attempting to cook chicken on the grill for lunch, however I think the grill is malfunctioning. Probably needs to be cleaned from last year.

Life is good. We are still looking for a house but narrowing our search. Work is going well. I'm getting busier daily and doing my best to stay on top of things. Kelly is into his busy season at work so he's putting in long days right now as well. We are both looking forward to summer.

Okay, I know that I haven't posted in a while. I have been reading a lot lately about problems that people have been having with blogs. I know some people will probably think that I'm being paranoid, but there are people who start seriously stalking people just by reading their blog. So, maybe I will just be more careful about what I write. Or find a way to set up major security, yeah right.

Quickly, Kelly and I went skiing in Tahoe with my family last week. It was absolutely wonderful, the sights were just like a postcard. We were then able to spend some time with Lisa, Tricia, Nate and Becca this weekend. The Froyds were back in Michigan for Tricia's younger brother Justin's wedding. He married his high school sweetheart. It was a great and we really enjoyed being able to spend time with them. Too bad it was so short, but we are now looking forward to their trip up here this summer.

Better get going to get thing done today. Never a dull moment.

It takes all types to make the world go round

My die-hard ice fisherman husband is getting all ready to go. One of his buddies is meeting him here tomorrow morning at 6:00 am and they are going to sit on the freezing cold ice all morning and attempt to catch fish. I can't figure out why that's enjoyable, but he loves it. Then again, he would hate curling up to read a book in front of a fire...actually he would never even consider it. It's a good thing that we love each other for our differences. I do have to say that I actually rode with him tonight up to Hesperia to the bait and tackle store to get some more supplies for tomorrow. I think that we were the only ones in there with a full set of our own teeth.

We have reservations tomorrow night for a date at The Melting Pot in Grand Rapids. It's a new restaurant to GR, but they have them in Chicago and I was there during college. I love it! Kelly and I have never been there together before so I'm really looking forward to it. Kelly also got tickets for the Home and Garden Show in GR tomorrow afternoon, so we have a full day ahead of us.

My husband is currently watching what I have declared are the two dumbest shows on television right now, My Name is Earl and The Office. He actually warned me not to come in here because I wouldn't think they were funny. I'm sorry for all of those who think these shows are funny, you must share my husband's sense of humor. I'm only hanging around in the living room long enough to see that ER is turned on at percisely 10:00 pm as it's supposed to be "the best episode of the season." Carter is coming back, enough said. Hence, the only reason I'm staying awake to watch it. Lisa will appreciate that.

We are leaving to go skiing at Lake Tahoe in just a few weeks, I can't wait.

Gotta go, ER is on.

Coming soon...

The above photo is a picture that was taken of our new office in Grant that will be opening March 6! This picture was taken in January, but it is what it still looks like today. I wish that I could find a picture of the old building and post it for comparison, it's amazing how much different it is.

It was a busy day for me. I saw 25 patients today, most of them sick children. As I have told my family and friends, I would see a sick kid any day over an old sick diabetic patient. This is also my last evening of working two nights. I'm thrilled! When we open the new Grant building next week, each of us will have only one night a week. Padmini, one of our internal medicine physicians, and I will be working Monday nights together. Since she does IM, she doesn't see kids who are younger than 15. Therefore, I will see the kids and she will be there to help me with the sick old patients.

My sister is currently moping the kitchen floor, someone check her temperature and see if she's sick. My mom will be thrilled.

Please pray that we find a house soon!

Wow, I am tired! Kelly and I helped my mom and Les work at my grandpa's house most of the afternoon today. We are trying to get all the junk cleaned out of there (and believe me, there is a lot of junk), separate the stuff that will be sold in the estate sale, and keep the few things that we want. We are also working on ripping out some of the wallpaper and the carpeting to make the house easier to sell. Les asked Kelly and I today if we would be interested in buying Grandpa's house for ourselves and fixing it up. Although it would probably be a good investment, there are too many memories there for me to be able to live there. I wish that we had the money to buy it, fix it up, and then rent it out. That would also be a good investment. This evening, Kelly and I finished the drywall in the closet of our room at my mom's house. Kelly actually did all of it, I just helped clean up the dust. Let me tell you, drywall dust is an unbelievable magnet. Yuck! I think I'm going to be dusting for the next month and I still won't get it all off. Kelly did a great job on the drywall. He made me laugh because he said this afternoon, "Yep, it's official, I just did the nicest drywall job in the whole house and it's in the closet!" Funny.

We are still working on finding a house. Congrats to Dave and Meghan who just bought a house in Jacksonville. I'm thrilled for them because this is something they have been waiting for. It's in their target ministry area and I'm sure that God will be big things through this blessing.

I think that it's time for me to hit the sack. My mom is determined to stay awake to see if Apolo Anton Ohno wins the gold in the men's 500 meter speed skating event. I'm not that patient, I already looked on NBC's website and saw that he did. The advantages of technology.
